I loved this book when it first came out in the nineties and am so glad I was able to purchase it in e-reader form so I could enjoy it all over again. Jackson Rule spent fifteen years in prison for killing his abusive father. His sister is in a mental facility because of it. Now he's looking to reconnect with her, pick up the pieces of his life, and start over. First he has to find a place to live and get a job. Finding an apartment doesn't take long when it's in a bad part of town. Employment, on the other hand? No one wants to hire an ex-con. No one until Rebecca, that is. She needs help with her nursery. Her assistant, Pete, is slowing down, not in the best shape, so when Jackson comes in looking for work she decides to give him a shot. Pete is against it as is Rebecca's father, the Reverand. Even so, the fact Jackson served time doesn't bother her as much as the old scars criss-crossing his back. She has a feeling there's more to the story than what he's telling.

Their love story was one I thoroughly enjoyed reading and the fact she took time to build the relationship between them made for a refreshing change from some of the books nowadays where the couple is in bed together at the drop of a hat. This also had a big twist at the end I wasn't expecting the first time I read it and had forgotten about until I read it again. Love the book!

Jackson Rule Sharon Sala Dinah McCall 9780061083914 Books Reviews

I have been a fan of Sala's for years and this is one of her best books. It speaks to the heart. I would recommend it to anyone who likes an emotional read.
I enjoyed reading Jackson Rule so much. I went through the ups and downs with Jackson throughout the story - I was anxious for him, cried, laughed, and cheered him on. I have had a difficult childhood and rooted for him and his sister - I could identify with them and it was so uplifting that it made an impact on my life. I love reading a book and it truly impacting my outlook - my spirit. I would recommend to anyone to read "Jackson Rule" - it was a great romance with true emotions and the book was written in such a way that I did not put it down until I was finished reading the entire book. 5 stars for sure - I LOVED IT!!! I love this author - she has never let me down.
I have so many favorites by this author and I have just added one more. Her characters always touch my heart, this book is exceptional.
Just when I think Dinah McCall/Sharon Sala can't get any better they do. Jackson Rule is at this point the best one I've read even though it was published in 2009 I just now read it. I never would have in a million years predicted the outcome and I wondered how everything was going to come out. This was more than a wonderful story of romantic love but one of faith (judge not lest ye be judged) and following your heart. The unselfish love of a brother for his sister as well as the love of a woman who had faith in Jackson just by his actions. It also brought out the horrors of child abuse and just how evil some parents can be toward their children; it broke my heart. Rebecca was torn, she was falling in love with a convicted murderer even though he paid his debt; she tread a fine line with her preacher father and Pete her co-worker and older friend and their concern for her safety around Jackson. Definitely inspirational. This book is a keeper!!

I would have to say this is one of my favorite books of all time. I love the way the hero is portrayed although sullen and ridiculed for who he is and what he was perceived to have done he doesn't give up on life and keeps on going. He continues to help others at the shelter and Rebecca when her car broke down and even saving his coworker. Yet still is seen as the bad guy even when he asked the preachers help the preacher is still suspicious and looking for angles. Jackson's selfless attitude throughout the whole book just made you want to cry and hug him repeatedly. It makes us all consider those words we were taught in school about not judging a book by it's cover.
Once you start reading this book, you will not be able to put it down. When I read this book when it first was issued in 2009, by the end of chapter one, I knew this book would win awards for the year and it did. I kept the original print issue but the print now is too small for me and I was thrilled of the cost of this book and bought it to reread again. It was just as good this time as the 1st time and other times I reread it. Jackson Rule is one of those books where after reading so-so books you want to read a really good can’t put it down even if I read it before books, this is it.

Jackson Rule is a just released ex-con convicted murderer. Rebecca meets him when her hose broke at a service station and he fixed it for her. When Jackson answers her ad for a greenhouse worker, she hires him. Her father, a preacher, goes against all his teachings in distrusting Jackson and objects loudly to Jackson being hired. It’s a love story that has deep meanings in not judging a book but its cover, but in the meat of the story and what we can learn about ourselves in dealing with others

Jackson has a secret of why he went to jail and when it comes out he has to learn to accept how it changes his life with Rebecca and the town people who were afraid of ‘the ex-con.’.
Jackson Rule is one of my favorite books. Ms. McCall, otherwise known as Sharon Sala, has written a book that will tear at your heart strings, cause you to speak to the characters, and end up applauding the outcome.

Jackson has been released from prison, and through a series of events finds a job working for Rebecca at her garden nursery. Rebecca's father, a minister, disapproves of her hiding Jackson, and continues to bring, what he feels are, audible men for Rebecca to date. Ms. Sala weaves a tale that will draw you in, and hold you until you reach the last page of the book.Sending
