I'm not surprised by some of the lower star reviews. Tracey Ward didn't write a typical romance novel. She did something creative and new and refreshing and changed up the typical storyline, and that rattles some people's cages. Personally, I think it is a good thing, should be done more often, and I loved it.The main complaint is that these two main characters are not on an obvious, charted course toward each other. The average romance novel follows an age-old formula: boy meets girl, boy looses girl, boy gets girl. Those can be fun, when you just want to check out and fall into an easy read, but sometimes you need to shake it up. In Knockout boy meets girl, boy and girl develop a fantastic friendship, and you never know for sure how they are going to get together. The course is anything but clear and easy.
The other thing I loved (and others didn't) was her flawed, but real, characters. I'm tired of the smokin' hot billionaire who can have any woman, but sees (not even meets) some klutzy virgin and he swears off all other women until he can have her. Kellen is not a monk, neither is Jenna. They are realistic. My eye-roll count for this book was zero, an all-time low for me.
There were parts of the storyline that I wanted to work out differently, but that's the fun of this book. It kept me guessing. I can't wait for the next book in this series and I am recommending it to all my reading buddies. Tracey Ward exemplifies why I love Indie authors. She takes chances and tries new things and creates great stories that are anything but predictable.

Knockout North Star Series Book 1 eBook Tracey Ward Reviews
There was so much angst in this book.
I liked Jenna and I think she deserves better than her sister's leftovers.
I hate heroines who run after men, but Jenna didn't exactly run after him. She was more like 'if you want to be with me be with, if you don't then don't'. I liked that about her. Still I wish she could be just a bit less forgiving.
My problem is with the hero. I don't know what Jenna sees in him. He's reasons for pushing her away we're pathetic , and the fact that the only reason he finally came through in the end was because being in an accident.
The author has an amazing writing style. I get bored easily and end up skipping chapters sometimes. But I haven't skipped one word while reading this book.
And you know what, this is why I read books. To be entertained and keep being interested.
Though I have to admit BE WARNED there are some very cringe worthy moments.
I've been thinking what I want to say about this book and what rating should I give it and all throuh the book there were different emotions I barely contained and had the strength to endure. So, looking at it from that point of view I couldn't give it a 1, or 2 or even 3 stars. Not even 4 could have made up for all of what I felt there. Because this book may be hard, may break your heart, may even make you consider throwing your kindle at the wall, but this book is real. And as much as I HATE the cheating part, I had high hopes for this book, which was the reason I kept on reading it.
And now I need a few months to forget about all of this because this is not my normal read and I get to aggitated about these things. But I just have to say that this was something amazing. I couldn't stop reading it even through all the pain.
And I have to say that I hate Laney! She's an a****** and the end I didn't like because she was in it. But the moment at the airport, yeah...that was totally worth reading all of this book.
Though Kellan is in love with Jenna he spends almost the entire book being with her sister. Jenna gets to hear them have repeated sex and watches them get engaged. He is with Jenna's sister for YEARS!!! Then at the end Jenna and Kellan get together...REALLY??? Who would want to be with a man who banged their sister repeatedly for years? But as Kellan said it was just sex not love. Ugh! Save your money and time!
This book had 5 star moments but it also had 2 star moments so I settled on 3 stars. The good The friendship and trust that builds up over time between Jenna & Kellen. I love the banter during the tutoring moments. Going to watch and supporting him boxing. Learning French and so on. I even liked the inevitable triangle (angst) that he would date the older sister at first. There are even some laugh out loud moments that almost brought tears to my eyes. The bad it all sort of fell to apart for me when K and L became engaged and he tells L he loves her after what happens in the kitchen with J. I get that he was trying for the "dream life" and thought Laney was the girl for that. I also get the whole "he ruined me" for anyone else from Jenna's pov. But when Jenna is eyewitness to years of all the romps in the bedroom (counting him good for 3 X in one night) with her sister and Kellen and other junk that she's put through, I had to roll my eyes and wonder why she didn't bail out of there and take care of herself. He says it's just about sex??? Then the engagement and proclaiming love??? Nope! There were some good moments toward the end but I was left pretty disappointed overall.
The beginning was promising, I like the rapport that Kellan and Jenna build and how their friendship got started. What I dont' like was Kellan dating her sister (8 years!) on and off all the while really wanting Jenna. Granted she was too young when they first met and he wanted to show grattitude to the father by dating the sister but c'mon. Grow a pair already! The sister treated him like her own lapdog and he takes it. UGH!
BUT it REALLY irks me when the only reason Kellan decided to persue Jenna later was a near death experience!? And as for Jenna, nothing I dislike more than a heroine pining away for the hero in hope he comes to his senses. Oh, and let's not forget, she hears them having sex (while he's aware of her feelings) and still continues on planning the wedding to her sister. *Bang head on desk*
I wish we had Kellan's thoughts because I'd like to know what the heck he was thinking.
