The Cabin eBook Matt Shaw
I must first say, I don't understand people that buy and read, ghost, horror and serial killer books, and then say, that was the worst book,
I have ever read, though they finished it.
What did they think they were getting, a cook book?
Now having said that, this tale is a short story, 90 pages, so it is a
very quick, and very intense read.
How many of you have gone off somewhere, just to get a little peace
and quiet?
That is what the family in this story has planned, and Dad wants to get
much of his book written.
His motto is, an author experiences all of the emotions that his characters
experience.
And he does......
There is nothing out there.....really, there is nothing out there.
What knocking??
The story continues in, The Cabin II........

The Cabin eBook Matt Shaw Reviews
This is the second Matt Shaw book I have read and I have to say that when I tell you I couldn't put his one down I mean it. Finished this book the same day I purchased it.
The story is gripping and haunting...it really made my skin crawl.
Now to get started on Asylum
CD
In the opening pages, I noticed errors in spelling (how was it possible no editor noticed "their" used incorrectly?), infuriating and illogical switching from past to present tense (a rookie writer's kind of mistake), and the rather peculiar insertion of British phrases coming from the mouth of a Vermont narrator. Normally such issues would detract from plot, but the plot of this novel is much like the stories told by a scout campfire--except less fun. Hard to believe all the raves for this book unless the author has a lot of friends and family.
What started as a family get away, a author and his family decided to spend a weekend in the family cabin. Only horror awaits this family.
I had no idea what to expect reading my first book by Matt Shaw....needless to say I will read MORE! This story was freaky as hell and left me with chills. The ending was totally unexpected and I am excited to see their is a Cabin 2. If you want to sleep with the lights on tonight I highly recommend reading this book!
Now this is an original horror story. I won't try to tell you that you've ever encountered
anything near as terrifying in a normal existance. I can tell you that I read the whole
book in one sitting...couldn't put it down. Only Matt Shaw could make an ending
as unique as this one.,,,,turn on all the lights and lock the doors and windows then read The Cabin.
I don't even know where to begin. I feel robbed of my money by all the five star reviews, I honestly don't believe those are real. I'm not trying to be ugly or hurt anyone's feelings, but I feel like a high school creative writing student could have easily come up with a better story. This book is trite, PLOTLESS, senseless, aimless, meandering, and man is it repetitive. Once it gets into the second half, it's like it gets caught in a bad trip and it just repeats the same two pages back to back in a slightly different order. The main character jumps to the silliest of conclusions and is in no way likable, mostly because he has no personality. Same goes for his family but worse, since they are portrayed as an annoying burden, yet we're supposed to care about them? There's not a single detail mentioned in this book that has any bearing on the story to the point of being UTTERLY preposterous - which climaxes into the "shocking" ending, the only shocking part being that the author chose to just end the book without tying the first thing together. Like I said, not my style to rant and be so harsh, but this was just bad bad bad. I hear about struggling writers all the time that just can't catch a break and this guy you tell me is a national bestseller? I find it hard to believe he's trying.
This is the first review I have ever written. I read a totally different genre (1119 books of a different genre). Somewhere along the way I stumbled upon Mr. Shaws writings. And boy am I hooked. After reading his Peter chronicles I chose The Cabin. When I say I am afraid to approach my when I read his books it is in a good way. Like a train wreck you can not look away from. The description of his book is above I won't bother with that. If you are into suspense or horror please give him a try you too will become a fan. His stories go where no one else will. There are no boundaries to his works. Love it. He is the one who speaks out where others are afraid to venture.
